pair of winged tritons, a male and a female, kneeling on a base
with pale blue scrollwork: their raised arms support two bobeche
holders.
The two figures, of pronounced baroque influence, belong to the
same typology as the épergnes shown in this exhibition (see
exhibit nr. 161) although the attitude in which the figures are
posed is reminiscent of the well-known triton published by Ginori
Lisci (1963, plate XVII), today in the Stibbert Museum in Florence
(inv. 302). (L.M.)
